Big Bad Wolf Fire Sale

The recent Big Bad Wolf Fire Sale was held for four days. I am glad baby Nazmi was born 22 days earlier than the EDD for I am healthy enough to go to BBW sale this time (my entry on this - here). I am still in confinement and Nazmi tagged along in a sling.

Crazy discount. Some books are as low as RM1. Some are RM3, RM5.
(Credit : BBW)
I went there with Nabil, Nazran and my nephew, Haziq. I assigned them on a mission to get interesting book for themselves, Nazreen and Haziq's sister, Sarah. They were so thrilled (#strategy). BUT before that, they must pull the trolley bag for me from one section to another.
 (Credit : BBW)
This is how it work - I pass the book to Nabil, he then put it carefully into the bag and Haziq drag the bag everywhere I go. They took turn to pull the trolley bag because it was so heavy. Nazran was with my husband. They use another bag.

We took a rest at the kids' section when both bags were full. That was when we let them free to choose books for everybody. The highlight of the day.
Muka bangga.
The kids chose nearly 20 books for them. I bought almost 40 books (ok, now I need to re-arrange our bookshelves). These are some of them. I already finished reading 5.
In the next two weeks, BBW will be in Penang. OMG, should we go to Penang also? lol.

Nesting : Bookshelves

I love books. When I was 7 months pregnant, my nesting instinct made me wipe and re-arrange all books on our bookshelves :) As what I usually do every 6 months. That was what I love most during pregnancy. The house will be super-neat and spotless.

These are our books on the bookshelves (a few are my brother's). Cooking books are in the kitchen. The current ones are at my office and my husband's workstation.

On religion.
On womanhood, parenthood, health. I read all pregnancy books during all pregnancies (all books khatam four times). I also khatam breastfeeding books TWICE when I breastfed my babies (3 x 2 = 6). On my way to my 7th. lol. Paranoid, eh? I think all moms/mom-to-be need to have basic knowledge about pregnancy, birth, baby, kids, etc so you will not be so stressed out dealing with those old folks' pantang larang which sometimes have no scientific basis at all.
On business, work.
Architecture and environmental design book collection. I want to sell some architecture books to architecture students at a very reasonable price.
My husband's photography books. There are more at his workstation. I need to remove the square thing to squeeze in the rest afterwards.
His photography magazine subscription.
My aunt's and cousin's magazine collection. My husband keep it for reference esp on poses for commercial / wedding photography.
His comic books ;) We already have two (or three? is it four?) boxes of them and the number is growing. The most recent one will be on his workstation. After a few weeks, I will put it at the bookshelves. Then it will go into the box.
Etc shelf.
The photos are a bit yellowish because we installed warm yellow petite chandelier in that area. I know, I know it defeat the purpose of the reading corner ;p
If you are interested to borrow my book (sorry, I cant lend you my brother's), do not hesitate to contact me or just drop a comment here. I can post it to you, but you have to bear the postage fee, ya?

Useful links on C-sect, VBAC, breech presentation and all

One of my blog readers (RS) commented in one of this blog's entries (here - KEEP ON TURNING!) on repeat c-sect vs VBAC and I strongly feel that I have to share this with everybody (in addendum, below). (Some of you might not be able to view it at that entry because of the NuffnangX comment thingy. I didnt know how to turn it off and go back to usual blogger.com comment section - it kinda upsetting actually - so I copied the whole thing).

(Addendum)

I know people come by to visit and read your blog, and so I thought it would be responsible to update here :) Theres actually new data about the safety index of repeat caesarean section vs vaginal birth after prev scar.

We had a recent discussion with our consultant during one of our usual ward round last weekend. What obstetrician generally practises before and how they thought about Vaginal delivery Vs Repeat caesarean section might just skewed with the emergence of this recent Australian study.

Please read this article first before moving to the journal:

"Is Elective Repeat Cesarean Surgery Truly Safer Than Planned VBAC?"

This is actually an open access paper. So I guess, they want us to read this! :)

Thank you very much, RS!
I believe it is more visible here than in the comment section.

A classic : The Thirty-Nine Steps

I am not into novel / fiction but I have to make an exception for the time being to a few classic novels that my brother lend me for my confinement period.

I am currently on this remarkable classic. The Thirty-Nine Steps is an adventure novel by the Scottish author John Buchan. It was beautifully narrated and was first published in 1915. There are numbers of radio, TV and film adaptations from the book since 1935.
One thing about adventure novel is when you start to read the first page, you couldnt stop until you reach the last one :)

Grilled fish with capers

I grilled white fish (cant recall its name) with paprika, black pepper and capers. Ate it with rice.

Brain training - Move a Ball

Nabil wanted this educational toy.
So I bought it. Nabil could use some brain stimulation to be more focus. It sounds easy. Separate the tiny blue and orange balls into different spheres through the tunnel in the middle. This is how it looks.
These are my stressed out kids at a restaurant. lol. Nabil took it very seriously.
This was what happened [late] that night:
You guessed it right. NABIL did it. He was nearly fell asleep towards the end.

Workstation. Different hotel. Different places.

Compilation of my workstation in different hotel, in different countries.

In InterContinental Adelaide, Australia
I was surrounded with the great view outside.

In Grand Hyatt, Singapore
I love the greenery outside. I love the fact that it is located at the corner and I can enjoy great views in front and at the side.

In Island Shangri-La, Hong Kong
They have fax machine in the room and complimentary internet connection. Love it. The overall design and the furnitures are very grand. I felt like a VIP :) The huge window is at the side of the working table.
This is the view outside.

In Empire, Brunei
This was my sleepless trip. ever. I only slept for 1-2 hours at night everyday because I have a lot of work to complete and present it during breakfast the next morning. The work station is small but really cozy.

In Imperial Tokyo, Japan
They have fax machine in the room and they gave me complimentary internet connection for the whole stay.

In InterContinental, Perth, Australia
They provide nesting tables. I could pull out another table underneath for more working space. Neat!
 The view is excellent!

In Sofitel, Melbourne, Australia
The working table is overlooking the building outside. Remind me of my Japan's hotel room.

The Kangaroo has arrived in Malaysia!

This Kangaroo :
Kangaroo Math Competition (KMC) is the world's largest mathematics contest, with participation from more than 6 million students from 49 countries in 2012 alone. The Kangaroo, also known as Le Kangourou in French, originated in France in the early 1980s, inspired by the success of a similar contest in Australia (hence, the contest is named after the famed Australian marsupial). The contest is organized by the Association Kangourou san Frontieres (AKSF), based in Paris. Malaysia joined AKSF as a member in 2012.

The KMC consists of one round of multiple choice question paper, which is given at the student's own school. This arrangement allows the maximum number of students to participate. There are no selection rounds or qualifying exam, there is only one paper to be taken by the participants. All participants in the world will write the same test simultaneously.
To learn more about the KMC Malaysia, please visit http://www.kangaroomath.com.my/
If you click on History of KMC, you will find this :
"..... Malaysia was unanimously elected to join the AKSF in 2012, at the annual AKSF meeting in Protaras Beach, Cyprus. Mr. Suhaimi Ramly was appointed as the country representative. Mr. Suhaimi is the coach for the national team to the International Mathematical Olympiad since 2007, and has been active with organizing many mathematics camps and competitions in the country...."
Suhaimi Ramly is my brother :)
and Nabil could answer most of the Grade 2 questions on the website :)
Why wait? REGISTER [your children / students] NOW! - Only the contact person should do the registration. Students (except those registering as individuals) should not register on their own.

Thanks for visiting us! Part 4

WE HAVE GUESTS!!!
Just now, my LOVELY ex-roommate, Azah or Achik, came to visit my family with her sister, Ima and her adorable 2yo nephew, Ahmad Faris. I HAVENT SEEN HER IN AGES!!!! I AM SO HAPPY!!!!

I was shocked to receive her call and I was even more surprised when she told me that she is in the neighbourhood. FIVE minutes later, she arrived!!!! Fortunately I have orange and chocolate cakes ready for visitors :) and of course, strawberry tea.

We talked and talked and talked. I missed her so much. We were room mates for a few years in IIUM so she knew me VERY WELL inside out.

Achik met Nazmi. Practice makes perfect.
Achik trying her best to burp Nazmi after I fed him.
Achik is a camera-shy person. This was what I got when I tried to capture her lovely face. LOL. Actually when she was ready to be photographed, my camera ran out of the battery ;p
Thanks for the gifts! I love it so much!!!!! At last, a present for MOM :)

Hong Kong : Jashan Indian Restaurant

During my Japan - Hong Kong trip, we had our lunch at Jashan, the best Indian Restaurant in Hong Kong.

The food were great! Enjoy the photos. I cant remember the name of the dishes except for ice-cream ;p
