Crafty Sunday : Gotham City under attack!!!!

I bring home a couple of boxes from my colleague, Mr. Ravi's Deepavali hamper. I know exactly what to do with that beautiful boxes.
Crafty crafty..
Guess what they were making?
Gotham City under attack!!
I asked the kids to look for a small cars as a prop for the photoshoot. Nazreen only manage to find a fire rescue truck and Nazran came back with a Batmobile. Nabil came back with a few cars and trucks but they are out of proportion.
Their finds made the project more interesting because we have to stage it as if the Gotham City (to relate to the Batmobile) is under attack (building on fire - to justify the presence of the fire rescue truck). Nazran took out his Captain America and Wolverine to do the fire-fighting work. Nabil still have the leftover string from the paper cup rabbit project, for the firemen's hose.
I REALLLLLY love the outcome of this project!!!!

Shoe / Sandal organiser

I knew I have posted it before.
I just want to keep this last photo of our shoe / sandal organiser before my husband take off our house number (66) and put it somewhere else.

New deco project - Floppy disks

I found a large stack of floppy disks containing assignments during my 1st and 2nd year at KAED. It was really a recollection from the past by looking at the titles. It taken up space but I feel hard to let it go. So I gave them to the kids to play with. The kids love to play with the floppy disks since they are colourful but the disks are everywhere now - under the table, in the refrigerator, on my bed. Everywhere.
Last Saturday, I came out with this in 20 minutes. It solves a lot of problems and I got a new wall deco.

Solar System

Yesterday, I taught the kids about our solar system. It was difficult at first because there are too many components in the solar system (apart from the planets). I decided to focus only on the eight planets. (No, Pluto is not a planet anymore since 2006 - it is a dwarf planet now).

First, I showed them the arrangement of planets in the encyclopedia. Then, we watched the whole solar system moving (planets orbiting the sun, the moons orbiting the planets, asteroids come and crushed planets, etc) in the internet.

And the fun part begin. They searched for nine round-based/cylindrical items and trace the circle around it, to drew the planets and sun of different sizes. They coloured it according to the photos on the internet. Then they stick the planets on the inner side of a box. #recycle
Nabil wrote the name of each planets, cut it and stick everything onto the wall.
Tada!
Our little solar system in the kids' room. To make them memorise it easier, we listened to The Planets Song all night. It kinda stuck in my head until now.

Recycle

I have this stack of used papers in my room.
Instead of shoving them into the shredder machine, I choose the one with one-sided printing (most of them are), cut it and bind it. I turned them into a book. It is now my mind mapping note book. It is free.

Name on the bottle

Whenever we bought a bottled (drinking/mineral) water for the kids, I will make sure I stick their names on each bottle so I will know who let the bottle lying around the house, who didnt emptied their bottle or who didnt put it in the recycle bin.
We usually give the recyclables to the scavenger once a month. My mom did that since I was a kid and now I feel obligated to do the same. She taught me well in preserving the environment through recycling.
