food : cream biscuit + tomato stew

I made tomato stew last weekend (here) and last Sunday, my husband requested the same stew for lunch. Weee :)

We dont want to eat rice. And we ran out of bread. So I made....
Cream biscuits! It is a bit crispy at the outside but have a bread-y consistency in the inside. I grated cheddar cheese on top and sprinkle some chopped parsley. I supposed to knead them together with the dough but I forgot. I cut it into bite-size squares.
For the tomato stew, there are tomatoes (duh), garlic, celery, onion and a bit of herbs de provenceYummy.
Baby Nazmi loves it!

School break 05 : Mug chocolate cake

The kids (my 3 kids + niece + nephew) have been begging for a chocolate cake, for quite sometimes. I decided to teach them how to make mug chocolate cake in 5 minutes.

You just need 2 minutes 30 seconds to mix the ingredients and another 2 minutes 30 seconds to cook it in the microwave. YES, MICROWAVE, not oven. You can even do it in your office.

When I asked them to get a mug each, they were super-excited.
Then, they started mixing. There were cocoa powder, flour and sugar all over the place and on their face.
Chocolate cake mixture by 3yo, 4yo, 7yo, 7yo and 8yo kids. I've added 3 spoonful of chocolate chips to each mug.
Then it goes into the microwave oven.
Cook for 2 minutes 30 seconds.
VOILA! It is good to eat. You could let it settle for a while at room temperature so the cake harden a bit. OR, you could eat it while it is hot for smoother texture.

School break 03 : Mexican quesadilla

My kids love to cook.
Nabil offered himself to prepare a snack for tea time. He made quesadillas.

He cut the chicken breast.
I know it is dangerous, but you gotta trust you child.
Then he prepared the filling.
After that, we made the quesadilla. He love (more) tomato sauce in his quesadilla.
I love a bit of mustard for mine.
This is Nabil's quesadilla.
We should do this more often!!
Not only on school breaks.

Lazy Sunday : yummy

Guess what we made last weekend? Almond powder, the main ingredient... and more almonds for its filling....

YES! You guessed it right. M-A-C-A-R-O-N!!! After one week of intense planning (me & my dear hubby) and take turns to study the intricate macaron-making process and troubleshootings on the net, we made a trip to bakery supply shop and WE TRY TO MAKE OUR FIRST MACARON. I was so thrilled while waiting for my hubby to put the macaron mixture inside the oven. Everything went well and the mixture was shiny during the settle down period. After a few minutes inside the oven, our macarons rose and we saw FEET!!! Yay!!! First try and succeed! That means my hubby did a good job in folding the mixture, the important process that I didnt dare to venture.

Anyway, I didnt capture the macarons' photo. It wasnt perfect yet. We think overheating was the main problem. We really need silicon baking tray and parchment (non-stick baking) paper. If anyone knows where to find them, especially the latter, do tell me.
