Happy Teacher's Day 2012

I've prepared a lloooottttttt of presents for Teacher's Day.
For Nabil's primary school teachers (10), sekolah agama (10) and reading class (1).
For Nazreen and Nazran preschool teachers (8) and Quran recitation class (1).
And not to forget, their Cikgu Taekwondo. yes, they want to give present to their taekwondo master as well. so cute.

It doesnt involve a lot of creativity this time , I didnt have enough time to prepare.
Brooches for Nabil's primary school teachers & ustazah sekolah agama

Brooches chosen by Nazreen and Nazran for their preschool teachers
Chocolate, bookmark and tissues for Nabil's reading class teacher

Chocolates for their class teachers (on top of brooches)
I bought 2kg of panned chocolate from the chocolate factory

Last but not least, this book for Nabil's headmaster. He cried when I gave him this.

I need to prepare earlier next year, in April perhaps?

Mother's Day 2012

My aunts' families were coming to my parent's house on Mother's Day. So we planned to make a surpise Mother's Day celebration for my mom and her sisters. My sister bought bouquets of flowers, my husband bought a cake while me, my mom and another aunt prepared nasi lemak, mihun goreng and a few kuihs. Nabil made tauhu sumbat. Good job, Nabil.
When my aunt arrived, we were so surprised because my cousins brought a lot of spaghetti bolognese, Latino food which I forgot the name already, cupcakes and of course, FLOWERS for everybody. OMG.
It was fun. Kids enjoying kicking and punching the punching bag, playing rollerblades, cousins were enjoying XBOX 360+Kinect, mom and her sisters chatting at a corner, dad and uncle chatting in the kitchen. There was also a photography corner for everyone by my husband. Everybody seems to enjoy the food. We eat, eat and eat the whole day.
We should do this more often :)
I mean the gathering part, not the eating part.

At 5.00 pm, we went for horse-riding.

THANK YOU to Uncle Hadi and Cik Nik for the lovely fish. Nazran likes it so much.

And thanks to my cousins for these lovely flowers.

Nazreen sold a car

Nazreen got a new toy. A white car. He was so proud and he brought it to his preschool, to show it to his friends. One of them really like the car.
Kalau nak ni, kena beli. Kena bayar, he said. (If you want this, you got to pay for it)
The next day, his friend gave him a thick stack of (monopoly) money. And the car was sold to that boy.
I am so proud that my son shows early interest in automotive industry and he just had his first business transaction at 4 years old. Go Nazreen!

On genealogy : MASWAPEM

Today I've attended a huge family gathering in KL. It is called MASWAPEM, Majlis Silaturrahim Keluarga Keturunan Haji Awang Kemachi dan Keluarga Keturunan Wan Puteh Mentuan

There is a very hugeeee family tree under both arwah Haji Awang and arwah Wan Puteh, and it is growing. They are the first generation - SURE, there were more before them, but this is the farthest that we could trace due to the limited information and documentation - so we start counting from them. Counting from arwah Haji Awang and arwah Wan Puteh, I am the fifth generation and my sons are the sixth.
Complicated system
From only one branch - 45 grandchildren and 235 great grandchildren!!!
There. My grandfather. The third generation.
Thank you for all hobbyist genealogists in my family who involved in tracing our family history / roots all this while. Meeting people from third to sixth / seventh generation from other branches makes me realise how much relatives I actually have in this part of the world.
And that is only from my (late) grandfather (father's) side. I still have another (late) grandfather and two more (late) grandmothers....wow!
(Photo credit : Mohd Hazli Haji Ghazali)
And, I met my cousin, Azuarina at MASWAPEM and she gave me this belated birthday present :) how lovely. I am glad because there ARE people reading my blog..... awwww..... (my birthday wish here) THANK YOU!!!

Crystal

I bought a few raw crystal rocks from Gunung Keriang or they called it Crystal Hill in Kedah. They said it could grow slowly when sprayed with mineral water or rainwater, everyday. I find it hard to believe that and of course I didnt spray it everyday. I just put it on my table for decoration. I could spend a very looooong time appreciating the details. Subhanallah. They are so beautiful.
But today I realise some part of it started to change a bit. There are white-ish tips coming out around the existing clear crystal tips. Since I usually stare at the crystal for a looong time, so I know each and every inch of it by heart. I know when something new starts to come out. Hmm...

3R Innovation Competition - my entry

I’ve participated in my office’s 3R Innovation Competition. It is simple. Just choose anything recyclables and make something new / functional out of it. I've decided to make crochet sling bag out of old t-shirts. Since these were taken from a pile of old t-shirts, the colour is very limited and I end up with garlicandbutter colours!! Pink, black, blue and white. And a bit of grey for the sling.

I have made one before  – here.

And I manage to sold it – here.

It took me a few days to find the suitable old t-shirts, cut it and turn it into balls of t-shirt yarn. This is the painful part. You need to cut it carefully into an inch wide continuous strip and then pull it hard, so the strip turn into rounded string. Rolled it into a ball.

I gave up a few days after that because I just cant find time to complete it. Until I met the organiser, Nurin, at Pasar Tani and she mentioned something about my entry. Later that evening, I found myself crocheting on my way back from the office (my husband picked me up)...until 2 am. And I submitted my entry the next day, which is yesterday.

When there’s a will, there’s a way. I hope I win.

National Closed Taekwondo Tournament - They've made it!

1 May 2012.
Parents checking their child's name.
I found mine.
They joined Poomsae. They were worried looking at the large crowd. Since it was a national-level tournament, there were hundreds of participants coming from all over Malaysia.
I did not have their still photos during Poomsae because I recorded the video. I will get the still photos from my husband later. For different entry.

AND after a few hours waiting for their turn and for the result........ FINALLY, they have made it! Yay! PURE JOY.

We are so proud. They couldnt stop talking about it until today.

MyBirthday : Part 02

Brotherhood : Art homework

Nabil has a lot of homework last weekend. He was pretty occupied with intensive taekwondo training on Friday-Saturday-Sunday because he (and Nazreen) will be joining a tournament on 1 May 2012 (Tuesday). When it was nearly 11pm (Sunday), he was getting sleepy and Nazran offered his help.
And around 11.30pm, Nabil couldnt even keep his eyes open and luckily Nazreen came to the rescue.
Nabil had planned carefully what colour goes to which box. But Nazreen just didnt bother. lol.
I hope his Art teacher didnt read my blog.
