Our Raya house : Cushion cover - checked

This post is an update to this post.
I managed to go shopping with my mom after iftar, a few days before Raya.
We bought cushion covers.
I bought graphic ones. I am very particular when it comes to pattern. And I usually dont buy same pattern for all cushions.

Raya cushion cover - checked.

Only yesterday I managed to buy the giant cushions for my living room. The kids love it!
So, this is how my living room looks like now.
SELAMAT HARI RAYA.

Moving In : Part 17 - Slipper / sandal organiser

We came across a few wooden pallets at an industrial area. We brought home some. I just cant stand looking at good things being wasted. One of them has been upcycled to be the base of our bulky TV (this entry). And this one.....
We upcycled it to be a slipper / sandal organiser. Nabil painted it white and Papa mounted it to the wall. We put a wooden plank on top for shoes. I love the fact that the size of the pallet is exactly the same as the piece of wall available next to the door, underneath the window.

Habitat Magazine 2012

This is the Habitat Magazine for 2012. We got it during the World Habitat Day 2012 Official Launch in PICC yesterday (1 October 2012).
The front cover contains photos captured by my husband. I believe they purposely put it in smaller scale due to its high commercial value. Strictly no free advertisement for those big companies on the front page of this magazine.
And my husband's winning entry is printed on full colour page. He is happy alright :) There is nothing more fulfilling for a photographer than to see his work printed in a magazine that will be circulated worldwide.
I have no contribution for this issue (my past contributions > here) but I found my photos at the back of the mag. Weeee!

My contribution for Habitat Magazine

Habitat Magazine, an annual publication by Ministry of Housing and Local Government (MHLG) Malaysia in commemoration with the World Habitat Day celebration, consists of selected articles on the issues of human settlement. It is circulated to all corner of the world in October every year. Click here > to see my desperate effort (LOL) to promote Habitat Magazine in Brunei, in 2011.

I was honoured to be given a chance to contribute to this excellent publication. This is for the first edition in 2009. See my name down there?

In 2010, my colleague took over and the printing company did the layout.

This is for the third edition in 2011. My last work for Habitat Magazine before I transfered to the new office. I was a bit disappointed because the margin is a bit off.
I wrote an article for the third edition.
I hope my ex-collegues are doing well with the fourth edition of Habitat Magazine this year!

Previous graphic work : Asset Management Workshop (2009)

I browsed through Habitat Blog and I came across this. Old memory.

This is my main design for folder and booklet  for World Habitat Day 2009 programme : Asset Management Workshop for Local Authorities in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah. Click on the image for larger version. (come, just click so you can appreciate :) It was a time consuming design).

World Habitat Day 2010 fever

As usual, International Unit will be pretty occupied for the World Habitat Day celebration in October. I have not sleep for 3 days and for the past four weeks, I came back from my office after midnight. (lucky I've spent 6 years in architecture school where they trained us to be fully awake 24/7). Thanks to my lovely husband who brings the kids to the office to keep me company every night (I have my own room now, y'all!!). It will be our routine until 6th October 2010. Right now, I am struggling with work and non-stop makan-makan Raya invitation.

This is what I did for the past 3 hours. I called it MyHabitat. but I dont think I am going to use it for any booklet / backdrop / tag design. So, I just post it here hoping it could inspire anyone out there. Now, I need to put my thinking hat (again) and hopefully I could produce 3 or 4 backdrop & booklet designs by 6am. 3 more hours to go. Good luck to me.

(All silhouettes were Googled. Credit to the owner)

Update :

4.35am - I have completed 3 backdrop designs in less than 2 hours (well, the design of the booklet will depend on the final backdrop, so let's not wasting time designing 3 booklet options). And I later found out my MyHabitat is suitable for name tag design due to its simplicity and dynamic shape, but I am still contemplating on the colour.

OK. Good night for me. Need to wake up in 1+ hour. Zzzzz...

Update :NO. We are not going to use any of these at all. I will post the final design later. Thanks to Mala for helping me with the backdrop.

This is the actual design used for the celebration - for booklet, backdrop and newspaper article (here).

AND THIS IS THE BEST PART - UNHABITAT use my design for their promotional brochure (this entry).

I AM SO HAPPY!

Habitat fever is here!!

I am pretty occupied with photo editing and compiling old documents for Habitat Blog - a blog about Malaysia's programmes and activities for the World Habitat Day (WHD) celebration every year since my office is the National Focal Point for United Nations Human Settlement Programme (UN-HABITAT) in Malaysia.

In 2010, we going to have 10 programmes/activities (and we only left with FOUR people after July!). You can read it in the blog after it being launched in July 2010. This is the slide I designed for the recent Habitat committee meeting. You can see the official WHD theme/logo for 2010 - Better City, Better Life.
